I recently made the trip to New York to attend the James Beard Awards and got to try one of the best burgers in New York City from Minetta Tavern, which was named Best Burger by the James Beard Foundation this year. Minetta Tavern serves an old-school style burger that I’ve never had before and it was amazing. The juicy beef patty was topped with gruyere cheese, caramelized onions, arugula, and truffle mayonnaise on a brioche bun and served with seasoned fries on the side.
Why you must order fries
When you order the burger, you have to get fries. They’re a part of the meal, and they’re delicious. The fries are crispy and golden brown, and they go so well with the burger. You can’t go to Best Burger without getting fries. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t get fries because I think that it goes perfectly with my burger. Plus, there is an extra serving of ketchup that comes in this awesome ketchup bottle that is just too cool not to use! The wait staff was very friendly and helpful when we were deciding on our order. They also gave us recommendations for what we should try next time we come back. Their service is always great, and even though it was really busy today when we went in, the food came out quickly. If you’re going to come here for dinner, I recommend ordering one patty for yourself (unless you want two patties) or ordering one patty as your entree and then asking them to serve burgers as sides. That way everyone gets their own burger experience! My favorite topping is avocado – I love how creamy it tastes with the lettuce and tomato and how it creates a beautiful contrast to the dark red color of the burger. I also like onion because it adds another layer of flavor. Overall, my favorite toppings are avocado, onion, tomato, cheese, bacon – but that’s only five toppings so maybe top 6 will be lettuce? 😉

About the patty itself
The burger patty was juicy and cooked to perfection. The bun was soft and slightly toasted, and the cheese melted in my mouth. I could taste the freshness of the ingredients with every bite. Overall, it was an amazing burger and one of the best I’ve ever had. There are two locations in Manhattan, and they’re both worth checking out. They also have a ton of other great options on their menu – including salads, fries, onion rings, chicken sandwiches and more.
Frequently Asked Questions How does the service compare to other restaurants? We didn’t notice any bad service during our visit. The staff seemed very welcoming and attentive throughout our meal. Is this restaurant family-friendly? Yes! They even have high chairs for families with young children that want to eat there together. Is this restaurant wheelchair accessible? Yes! There is plenty of space inside for wheelchairs as well as outdoor seating areas that are wheelchair accessible too. Do I need reservations? Reservations are highly recommended, but walk-ins are accepted. Parking: Street parking is available, but we recommend looking up public transportation if you don’t want to worry about finding a spot nearby.
Be ready to wait in line
I was told that the best burger in New York was at this little hole-in-the-wall place called J.G. Melon. So, I decided to go there for dinner one night. I was not prepared for the line that wrapped around the block! Apparently, everyone in New York knows about this place. But the wait was worth it. When I finally got my burger, it was juicy and delicious. I could see why it’s so popular! If you’re ever in New York, make sure to check out J.G. Melon – but be prepared to wait in line!
Sometimes getting good food requires a bit of patience. Sometimes people are lined up outside a restaurant because they are THAT good (yes, I’m talking about you Shake Shack). Other times, like when I went for a visit to Epcot Center in Disney World recently, sometimes we have to wait just because we’re human. You see; if it were allowed or feasible ,every person on earth would get into Epcot Center each day without any problem at all (have you seen pictures of some of those rides!?). However, Disney World rules limit entry only twice per day and even then most people cannot enter right away due to security screening measures; resulting in long lines if all these people show up at once or close together. That being said, it doesn’t take too long before things are moving again and we’re able to enjoy everything that is waiting inside. Including delicious eats at Restaurant Marrakesh.
Would I go back? (Yes, yes, yes!)
I don’t think I’ve ever been so full in my life. The burger was delicious, and the fries were cooked to perfection. I will definitely be going back for more. Plus, the service was great and the atmosphere was perfect for a night out with friends. My only complaint is that they do not have any vegetarian options on their menu. When we asked if they could make us some veggie burgers, they said no because they don’t know how to cook vegetables. However, there are still plenty of other things on the menu that I would recommend. They also serve cheeseburgers, ham sandwiches, French toast breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs (on challah bread), and even an ice cream shake that comes in three different flavors: vanilla, chocolate or strawberry. All of these options sounded amazing so we ordered a few appetizers to try them all! They gave us three cups with French fries inside: one had cheese curds and gravy; one had bacon bits and sour cream; and one had ranch dressing for dipping. We also ordered onion rings because they come fried with ranch dressing. We loved everything but our favorite was the bacon bits!
There’s a reason why this is called a double
I walked into the restaurant and was hit with the most heavenly smell. My mouth started watering and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on that burger. When it arrived, it looked even better than I’d imagined. I took a bite and… wow. The beef was so juicy and flavorful, and the bun was perfectly toasted. I savored every bite of that burger, and it was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. If you’re ever in New York, make sure to stop by this place for an unforgettable burger experience. You won’t regret it!
One thing I noticed right away is how neatly packed everything was: as soon as I opened up my box (I ordered delivery), all four burgers fell out like they were a gift from heaven. Everything here is taken care of carefully; not only were there napkins and ketchup packets, but they also gave me their own branded ceramic plates when they delivered! How cool is that? It’s nice to see such attention paid to details; you can tell they really care about making their customers happy. They don’t have any frills or anything fancy- just high quality food that they know tastes great.
For dessert, I got myself a cookie sandwich, which consisted of two oatmeal cookies filled with marshmallow fluff, drizzled with chocolate syrup and topped off with sprinkles. Now THAT is what I call finishing off a meal on a high note!
